We believe that cycling is more than just a sport or a hobby, it’s a community, a way of life, and above all, it’s fun. We came together in March 2023 with a clear vision in mind – to create a cycling club that caters to riders of all types and experience levels, while promoting the joy of cycling within our community.

Having been part of other clubs ourselves, we realized that something was missing. Many clubs seemed to lose sight of the true essence of cycling, becoming too focused on leader-boards, personal bests, and expensive club memberships and over the top rider grading systems and policies.

We wanted to bring back the simplicity and social aspect of road cycling, creating a place where riders could come together, enjoy their passion, and feel at home with their cycling friends. That’s why Surrey Cycling Squad was born. We set out to create a club that embraces the core values of cycling: camaraderie, inclusivity, and sheer enjoyment. Our logo, a meaningful symbol of our vision, takes the form of a hashtag.

It represents the very essence of being social and connecting with others who share a love for cycling. But don’t be mistaken, we understand and respect the diverse needs of our members. We recognize that some prefer the thrill of fast-paced rides, while others prefer a more leisurely pace. That’s why we offer a mixed bag of rides on different weeks, catering to both the speed demons and those who prefer a more relaxed journey. We want everyone to feel welcome and included.

To keep things simple, fun, and social, we have developed our own group ride difficulty chart. This allows riders to choose their preferred pace without limiting them to specific rides. Whether you’re up for a quick sprint or a leisurely pedal through the countryside, there’s a place for you.
